Do you want to know what your customers want? I don’t mean guess at what you think they might want, but what they actually want.
The answer is simple. Just ask them. This is something that big businesses do frequently, and small businesses often don’t. Get a group of your best customers together, and ask them what they want and need. If they are your best customers, chances are their needs and wants match with other customers you want.
There are several ways you can do this, the simplest being taking your best customers and treating them to lunch or dinner and picking their brains. You could also have a full scale customer engagement survey undertaken, where your best customers are interviewed. From the latter, you can get a more formal idea of what areas you excel at, what your customers like or dislike, and where your customers want you to head.
It doesn’t have to be expensive, and it’s a valuable insight which feeds into your marketing and product development strategy.
