If everything is urgent, you’re doing something wrong

Posted by Daniel Rose - July 7, 2010 - Blog

It is not very often that a day goes past where somebody doesn’t have an urgent task. If, however, every moment of every day is filled with urgent tasks, something is very wrong. This is something I see frequently, as people often come to me looking for help to solve their ‘urgent’ problems.

Sometimes I feel a little bit like a broken record, but this is what happens when people don’t plan. One of the main things people struggle with when talking about planning is how it fits into their organisation. In the next week or so I will write an article on integrating planning across almost any organisation.

This is a great point…I think a lot of people gain some sense of importance from feeling like everything that they do is “urgent” when in fact it generally just leaves you worn out and not operating at your best.

It’s true, all too often things are labeled “Rush” with no real reason other than lack of planning.
Not a good reason to make a project urgent.
Looking forward to reading the articles on how to tackle this recurrent issue.

Client results

The service and personal attention we received from Mr. Rose was exceptional and he has a good depth of knowledge in his field.— Name withheld, 150 room hotel based in Madinah, Saudi Arabia.

I had a very good experience working with Daniel Rose as he put together a profit sharing structure for our company. He quoted a fair price and the work that he did far exceeded my expectations. He also was great in following up and spending time to make sure I understood what he had put together. I definitely recommend him to others!— Marc Cabianca, Bridge Learning

Daniel Rose was simply excellent in all regards. I would heartily recommend him to anyone.— Paul Marriott, Marriott Organization, Inc.
