Napping for productivity

Posted by Daniel Rose - October 26, 2010 - Blog

It’s hard to beat a nap. Imagine you’re working a long and tiring day. It get’s to 3PM and it’s time for a coffee to perk you up. Or is it? Perhaps taking a nap is a better option.

There’s been a reasonable amount of research into napping, and it’s relationship to alertness and productivity. According to that research, it helps to prevent, and recover from, fatigue. Taking a nap for as little as 5 minutes can help improve alertness levels.

What’s really great is the mainstream acceptance this concept is getting. Some of the proponents include Cisco Systems, Nike, and BHP Billiton. Nike even go so far as to provide “relaxation rooms” to staff, which include massage chairs, scented candles and anything else your mind can imagine.

It’s all caught on a surprising amount, in fact there are places that now sell nap beds that are specifically targeted at corporations. There are nap beds of multiple types, presumably suiting multiple budgets. This is all quite involved, and I think I need a nap!

I am and always have been a devoted fan of the nap. Nice to see them get the attention they deserve.

Client results

I had a very good experience working with Daniel Rose as he put together a profit sharing structure for our company. He quoted a fair price and the work that he did far exceeded my expectations. He also was great in following up and spending time to make sure I understood what he had put together. I definitely recommend him to others!— Marc Cabianca, Bridge Learning

The service and personal attention we received from Mr. Rose was exceptional and he has a good depth of knowledge in his field.— Name withheld, 150 room hotel based in Madinah, Saudi Arabia.

Daniel Rose was simply excellent in all regards. I would heartily recommend him to anyone.— Paul Marriott, Marriott Organization, Inc.
