What happened to professionalism and service?

Posted by Daniel Rose - August 21, 2010 - Blog

Where has professionalism gone? There was once a time when employees, managers, and suppliers conducted themselves in a professional manner. It seems these days, people have drifted, and some have entirely lost the plot.

It can be seen everywhere, but it really becomes apparent when you pay top dollar to a supplier, only to be treated with a certain degree of contempt. I’m not quite sure how these suppliers don’t see it, but such failure to provide real service only loses customers.

The movie Layer Cake was on television the other night, and at one point the central character says something which really makes sense:

As long as you don’t take the piss people will always come back for more.

That statement is so incredibly true, yet people really have trouble understanding it. Given the cost of acquiring new business, keeping existing customers is vital. Deliver a quality product or service with a level of professionalism and have no need to look elsewhere. Treat your customers correctly, and they’ll keep you in business. Treat your customers as though you don’t need them, and they’ll go elsewhere.

Client results

The service and personal attention we received from Mr. Rose was exceptional and he has a good depth of knowledge in his field.— Name withheld, 150 room hotel based in Madinah, Saudi Arabia.

I had a very good experience working with Daniel Rose as he put together a profit sharing structure for our company. He quoted a fair price and the work that he did far exceeded my expectations. He also was great in following up and spending time to make sure I understood what he had put together. I definitely recommend him to others!— Marc Cabianca, Bridge Learning

Daniel Rose was simply excellent in all regards. I would heartily recommend him to anyone.— Paul Marriott, Marriott Organization, Inc.
